ABOUT ROBERT BOWEN SMITH

Born and raised in California, Robert Bowen Smith, began his training as an actor at The Young Actor's Space. Smith continued to train through college, earning a BA in Theatre from Southern Virginia University and an M.Litt/MFA in Shakespeare and Renaissance Literature in Performance from Mary Baldwin University. 

 

Smith's first professional work came during his final semester of grad school when he worked with American Shakespeare Center in 2007. In 2013, he made the decision to move to the DMV when he started training with Synetic Theater.

 

Smith has worked professionally with many theater companies in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. He enjoys company membership with both Synetic Theater and Flying V Theatre. In 2018, he was a Helen Hayes Nominee for 'Outstanding Choreography in a Musical, Hayes Production' for Alice's Rock and Roll Adventure at Imagination Stage. His work has been reviewed by the Washington Post, Broadway World, The Washingtonian, The Washington City Paper, and MD Theatre Guide. 

 

He looks forward to his future in the DMV and feels tremendously grateful for the wealth of artistic opportunities afforded to him by the DC Metro Area Theatre Community. He's home.

 

Robert lives with his beautiful wife (a professional makeup artist), two perfect children and a fluffy poodle in NoVA.
